A geeks day off
I know this is a tech blog, but hey, this is MY blog. I got a little break from the technology world, so my blog will too.
So, yesterday my family and I went on a trip to Peaks Island, Maine (a 2 hour drive + a 20 minute boat ride). It was a nice break from the interweb, but we weren’t lacking technology all together, armed with 2 cameras, my mom took some good pictures, and I took some, erm, well, dumb pictures (3 pictures of a pidgen, 10 pictures of milo, and 17 pictures of the boat we took, then I gave up).

Peaks island is a biggish (20 sq mi. and about 1000 people) island off
the Maine state coast. It is a pretty rural place, with both rich and
poor people living there. It’s a 20 minute boat ride from the city of
Portland. The main boat is a car ferry. Yes, that is about the only good picture I took. Anyway, my dad was visiting one of his friends who was renting a house there, and he invited my mom, my brother and I too. We drove for 2 hours and finally got on the ferry at about 3:10pm.

The first thing we did when we got there was, what else, head down to the rocky beach. The water was way to cold for swimming, and there wasn’t much of any sand. We entertained ourselves by smashing rocks. After all, what could be more fun than breaking things (That’s what we americans do best.) After swinging on the rope swing (but not jumping in) for awhile, we moved on and found this:
One string for every American to die in Iraq, almost 4,000 in total. I’m gonna label this one “See what happens when you vote for bush?” or “Pretty soon it will be an army of one”. So yeah, thank you Mr. Bush, without you we wouldn’t have this mural.
Let’s go from awful to cute shall we? We met up with our dads friend Sharon, and she had a dog named Max (no, not Mac, that’d be a cool name tho). Sharon was nice and all, but to be honest I really just liked the dog. My dad seems to hate dogs, but my mom, my brother, and I all really want one. Sharon told us that she’d work on my dad whenever they met up 
Well, that ruined the cuteness didn’t it? Umm … no comment.
Ok, so i’ll end with one techy looking thing. What a way to get around… Anyway, it was fun and all, but I suffered from some serious twitter withdrawl… well, not really, but I missed my iMac. I think i’ll wait awhile to do that again…
