Err, sorry for that childish breakdown of purposeful misspellings, lolcat-esque grammar and misuse of capital letters, I just got a bit excited. This thing is 10000% better than Wordpress 2, and I mean it. I loved Wordpress 2 from the minute I started using it, but, sort of in the same way I love VectorDesigner, it bugged me in a lot of small-ish ways. The Wysiwyg editor messed with my posts, plugins had to be manually updated, the dashboard was almost entirely useless, and the interface would quickly become cluttered with the multitude of space-hogging plugins. Wordpress 2.5 fixes EVERYTHING that I hated about Wordpress 2, and then ads on top of it with some amazing features that I never knew I needed until now.

The new feature that I really like is the easy picture uploader, and inserter. You can use it for individual pictures or you can easily make really cool gallery pages and stuff (which I will demo later on). I think wordpress 2 had something like this, but it wasn’t anywhere near as smooth. This uses a lightbox style effect to put all of the dialogs and stuff into a neat and clean window. There are similar dialogs for video, audio, and other media (like embedded flash I presume). Lemme tell ya, these dialogs will save me SOOO much time I now don’t know what I would ever do without them, and this is the first post I’ve written in 2.5! So maybe I’m being a bit dramatic, but they’re great, I can do more with my blog now that inserting stuff is seamless. I do have a few disappointments, for example you can’t grab a youtube link and have wordpress auto-insert the player for you (which would be really nice), but other than that it’s just really neat.

There are also a lot of little things that add to the overall experience of wordpress. The interface is much brighter, neater, and cleaner. Lists are better laid out and easier to read (like the Page Manager, pictured left), Tags auto-complete, categories sort by most used, little things like that. There are also some little new features that can add some more customizability to your blog, like the ability to edit the permalink of the post (notice the permalink for this post doesn’t have the FULL name of the post in it, to keep the URL short). Everything is much better laid out, and in general just looks better. I must say though, I was a bit shocked when I first logged into my new Wordpress, it is REALLY different from 2.0 in visual style, and things are laid out a bit differently, so there might be a tiny bit of a learning curve.

It’s not absolutely perfect though, it still has some (major) bugs, like, oh, not being able to add images when using Safari, but I’m sure they’ll get those sorted out. Overall: TOTALLY FRICKEN AMAZING! 463.58 Million thumbs up. Now, to demo the spiffy gallery feature:

Weird huh? Of course, those are over the course of 12 days, so they might not be quite accurate.

• Post Ratings: Some of us are to lazy/shy to post our feelings in words, for those people (and anyone else) you can just rate the post. Remeber, if you can’t rate 5 stars, don’t rate at all. (lol, no, it’s ok, I can take bad ratings like a man).
• Polls: No, not the type of poll that I crash into while mindlessly roaming the streets, the type of poll where you vote for whether or not I should take a video of me crashing into a poll.
• Theme switcher: For those of you who don’t enjoy the current theme, you can choose from 5 others, with more coming soon!
• Digg: In the unlikely event of a digg worthy post, a simple button will allow you to share the post with the world. It’s just like sharing.
• Twitter compilation: Can’t get enough of my tweets? I know the feeling, luckily you can now read all of my tweets right here daily with the new tweet compilation feature
• Automatic Update Tweeting: Sound complicated? Well basically you’ll now get automatic twitter updates whenever I update this blog.
• Inline Ajax Pages/Comments: Reloading the page is SOO 2006, the future involves comments, comment forms, and full posts, fading, sliding, zooming, bouncing, and exploding onto your page (Not the actual effects, that would just be anoying).
• People Viewable Stats: I’m already tracking your every move on my site (ok, not quite), but I want to allow you to see some stats too. Just gotta figure out the best way to do that.

Coming soon:

• More themes to change: Sometimes one feature is ‘No eye bleeding’
• More Pages: Your one stop shop for KT software and stuff will be here
• Less visual hiccups: A polished theme is a good theme

• More images. I realize a long text only article just looks to boring to read. Images will no longer be Javascript popups because that still makes it look like it’s just text
• More pages. I’m gonna just give up on my KeatonTech site and move the software and stuff over here
• More interesting posts. No more long posts about my twitter addiction (I swear it’s getting better)
• More features. ‘Cause really, who doen’t like features? I hope to add more Javascript and stuff
• More popular. Hopefully all of these changes will make the site more popular. Resulting in more comments and stuff.

Anyway, the point is I got a little worn down, running out of things to say and getting bored of blogging all together. Between homework, twitter, twitter, parents, twitter, and school (and twitter of course), I just didn’t have time to blog, and everything I had to blog about I tweeted on twitter.

Well no more, twitter is nice and all, and i’m gonna keep tweeting, but there are some things in life that deserve more than 140 characters. I’m gonna get back to blogging (at a slower pace) and hope that i’ll actually get a few readers this time. So, if you like this you could link to me or something … that’d be nice … y’know, for google and technorati. Comon, let’s bum-rush the Gcharts! WHO’S WITH ME!? *crickets start chirping in the backround, I walk off in shame*

• JS Image Viewer: I found that the images in my blog posts were taking up too much room on the page, so from now on all images will use a JavaScript Image Viewer that pops up, I have seen this viewer on many sites, so I think now is the time to add it to mine. Here is an example.

Future improvements will include live commenting, pages in windows, and much more. If the original author of this wordpress theme agrees, i’m gonna put out the custom AJAX-ed theme!
