Episode 13: His steveness!
About a month ago, my video camera was broken by my annoying little brother (he’s appeared in the show a couple of times). After my parents refused to pay for a NEW camera (the one I was using was only a couple years old, despite the horrid quality), I put the show on official hiatus. But, after more requests/complaints/pleas than I can count, I’ve finally decided that I might as well just go back to the basics: Me, in my room, with an iSight, talking tech. I had decided that I couldn’t go back to the basics at the point I was at, that the whole point of iEye had kind of changed to fit the greenscreen and nothing else, but, well, I think it can go back, at least until I can save up enough for a new camera. So, it is with pleasure that I announce that the iEye hiatus is over as of TOMORROW! I’m busily working away at the pre-show as I write, well, not AS I write, but as soon as I finish, this one should be good. I will be doing it in Final Cut, so, while it will not be greenscreened, it’ll have all the multi-track video overlay goodness of iEye’s 6-12. So yeah, hope to see you there, watching it!
Just a reminder (or announcement to some of you) that I will be hosting iEye #13 live on Mogulus tonight at 8pm EST (5pm PST). This is just a temporary setup until I get my greenscreen back in working condition, it’s better than nothing, right? Anyway, I THINK anybody can sign up for mogulus now, but show hosts still have to invite whoever they want on, so if you want to be on you can A. Email me (keatontech@gmail.com), B. Twitter DM me (’d keatontech’), or C. Post a comment below (if it needs to be approved, please email me, darn spam) with your mogulus user name. Also, if this time doesn’t work for you please contact me so I can see if there’s a better time for any future live episodes. See you there!

So today was a snow day, would’ve been better if it was tomorrow, but still, w00t! Anyhoo, I got really bored, and the stevenote suspense was killing me, so I decided to download the trial version of Cinema 4D, an awesome 3D modeling tool and try my hand at making mockups. Turns out i’m not that great at it, although I came up with some pretty crazy features for the thing, which was fun. I’m not saying this is at all what the, what’s the rumor mill calling it now, MacBookAir will look like this, these are merely mockups of my dream mac. The pictures are sorted by crazyness, least crazy ideas at the top, most crazy at the bottom. So, without further ado, the iTablet (IMO)
Pic #1: This is my idea of what it would look like when it’s closed, I guess it would be like a slider, that would be cool, or just a normal laptop-y thing. The main screen would be a 10in LED backlit screen, I don’t really care if it’s touch or not.

Pic #2: This is kinda based on those Apple patends for large multi-touch trackpads. The idea is that it would have a multi-touch keyboard that could change in context to what you’re doing, like an optimus maximus kinda. I know a lot of people hate the iPhones multitouch keyboard, but I think if it were big enough it wouldn’t really be a problem for me.

Pic #3: This thing would be great as a kinda new age portable DVD/Movie player, but not if you have to hold it up and all, well, ok, maybe i’m just lazy. But, I figure you don’t need the keyboard for movie watching, so you could use it like this. (PS. Like the table? I spent more time on that then on the whole rest of the mockup, you just gotta get Apple tables right)

Pic #4: Ok, this one is the least likely, but this would be the ultimate in comfortable computing. If the keyboard part where detachable, you could put that in your lap and then have the screen somewhere in clear view. So, essentially, you could turn the tablet into a desktop with a bluetooth keyboard on the fly.
